MathBound for teachers and schools
MathBound is an Algebra I adventure game. Students explore a fantasy world and win its battles by solving real Algebra I problems, while you see how each of them is doing, skill by skill.
Free while MathBound is in alpha
MathBound is in alpha, and free for teachers and schools while it is.
- Everything, for as many classes as you teach: the game, the teacher portal, progress reports and assignments.
- Set up by us. Send the form below and we'll set up your account, usually within two school days. No student names or emails needed to ask.
- Alpha means still growing. New lessons and fixes arrive often, and we want to hear what works for your students and what doesn't.
- When the alpha ends, we'll email you well before anything changes, and your classes, students and their progress stay.
Try it free with your class
Start a free pilot: one class, up to 40 students, free through the end of the semester.
- Everything, for one class: the game, the teacher portal, progress reports and assignments.
- Free through the end of the semester: your pilot runs until January 31 or June 30, whichever comes first at least eight weeks after it starts. A pilot started in December runs to June 30.
- Nothing to pay and no card. Near the end we'll tell you how many of your students played, and how your school could carry on. Your class and its progress are kept either way.
- Set up for you, usually within two school days. No student names or emails needed to ask.
What your school gets
- The Algebra I game for students. It runs in the browser at play.mathbound.org, Chromebooks included, with nothing to install, no ads and no messaging between students.
- The teacher portal. Make classes; add students by their school email, by a class code they type in, or by making accounts from a list of first names and printing their sign-in cards.
- Progress you can use. See each student and each skill: what they've mastered, where they're stuck, and how long questions take them.
- Assignments with due dates. Pick the lessons, set the date, and see who has finished.
- Matched to your textbook. Choose your class's Algebra 1 textbook and the game follows its chapters and lessons.
Teachers: join the free alpha, or ask for a quoteTeachers: start a free pilot, or ask for a quote
Tell us who you are and we'll set you up, free during the alpha. For a quote for your school or department, choose that instead.
Tell us who you are and we'll set you up. For more than one class, or your whole department or school, ask for a quote instead.
School administrators: email us your staff list
Setting up a whole school or department? Email hello@mathbound.org with:
- your school's name, district and state;
- the administrator's name and email (that may be you);
- each teacher's name and school email;
- roughly how many students each teacher has;
- the Algebra 1 textbook you use.
The button opens an email with these headings ready to fill in. Once your school is set up, you can add more teachers yourself from the portal.
What happens next
- We set up your account and reply with next steps, usually within two school days.
- Teachers sign in at play.mathbound.org/portal with their school Google or Microsoft account, or choose First time here? to set a password.
- They make a class, pick its textbook, and add their students.
